The Beginning

Salutations, and welcome to 'Into the Light,' created for the ROGATE course at Northern Burlington Conuty Regional Middle School. I was instructed to introduce myself through a post about me. I'll try not to bore you with a novel about me. But I probably will anyway.

They call me Charles, an Old English name meaning 'warrior.' I am, in my mind, a warrior, but not the 'fight evil!' warrior. This type of warrior cannot be put into words. You will discover my definition of 'warrior as we move through the year, and you will also discover what 'Into the Light' means.

Moving on, I must now describe my favourite classes in school. If not for ROGATE, I would be a part of a writing class by the name of LA Composition. I am not in that class, but it is most definitely worth it, because ROGATE is probably more fun anyway. I do love writing, and I do consider it to be my passion in life. Creative writing, to be precise, is what I use to occupy my spare time, and express my thoughts and emotions. I enjoy writing fantasy, and since third grade, I have written three novellas, ( a short novel) and am working on a novel. I must admit that the third grade ones were terrible, but they did progress as they went along, and the third one was not too terribly written, besides a corny plot and a downright meaningless story.  I wrote about a boy who is part of a prophecy to save a fantasy world, and he possessed the element of water n=inside of him that helped him to fight evil. SOmetimes I think that it was an interesting idea, and with some MAJOR changes, it could be a good novel. But it really bugs me to look at that horrible fifth-grade writing.

Another story I wrote was about a girl who fell through a hole into a magical world. It was terrible. I wrote this in fourth grade, and I sometimes would like to burn that notebook. In sixth grade I wrote a decent story called 'Phoenix Feathers' about a family of phoenixes that lived on earth because their kind was near extinction in their world. That story was very good, actually, but i never finished it, because I ran out of inspiration for it. The last one that I will tell you about is truly the worst idea ever. It was in third grade. I wrote about four third graders with magical powers. The end.  It was called MagiKids. My friend Christina wrote a book about the kids parents, called SuperKids. these kids had super powers. I don't want to insult her, because she will probably read this. But lets just say that to describe both books, the word starts with a T, ends with an E, and has an ERRIBL in the middle. No offense, Christina. (We have had conversations about these stories and we both have the same opinion on them.)

Alright, I think I'm done with writing. Now, on to reading! My favourite books are by far the Harry Potter series, all seven books, all one hundred ninety-eight chapters, all one million, eighty-four thousand, one hundred and seventy words. On Thursday, you may want to know that I will be very excited, for the new JK Rowling book is coming out, 'The Casual Vacancy.' I am not buying a copy, but i am number fourteen of sixty-eight on the library hold list. There are many copies in the library, so I'll get a copy on my hand within a week. YAY! My favourite Harry Potter book is 'The Deathly Hallows' even though it is probab;y the saddest thing in the world. Dobby. Fred. I can't list any more, I'm sorry. My favourite movie is 'The Philosopher's STone.' To all of you Americans, I am talking about that one book-what do you call it?- ah yes, the 'Sorcerer's Stone.'  How peculiar.  I am a Hufflepuff, as declared by the Pottermore Sorting Hat. If you do not know what Pottermore is, than you should know that it is a n online Harry Potter experience by JK Rowling. My username is FrogAuror19807, friend me! Some say that Hufflepuffs are wimps. But that is definitely NOT true.  Many famous wizards were Hufflepuffs, such as Newt Scamander, the Fat Friar, Grogan Stump, and Artemisia Lufkin, just to name a few.

Newt Scamander was part of the Ministry of Magic and worked for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, then the Office for House Elf Relocation, and then the Beast Division. He also wrote the famous book, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.' Later in life, he was headmaster of Hogwarts and worked more for the ministry after that.

The Fat Friar is the Hufflepuff House ghost, the equivalent to the more well known Nearly Headless Nick or Bloody Baron. He was a jolly man who devoted his life to religion and returned to his school to haunt the hallways.

Grogan Stump was the Minister of Magic in 181. He adressed the nomenclature of beings and beasts, and also created three divisions of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures: Being, Beast, and Spirit.

Artemisia Lufkin was the Minister of Magic as well in 1798, and was the very first female to have held the office. After her appointment, several of the oldest Wizengamot wizards decided to protest. She served for 13 years and was replaced by Grogan Stump, above.

I think that it is time for me to move on. My next topic is: JAPAN! Yes, one of my very favourite countries ever. Japan. Japan.  I am in love with the Japanese cartoons, anime, which are made into both books and movies and TV shows and music videos and card games and more! My favourite director is Hayao Miyazaki, who directed films like 'My Neighbour Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, and The Secret World of Arietty. You may notice that below my fish are not in an ordinary fish bowl, oh no. They swim above a picture of Totoro, from 'My Neighbour Totoro.' I will change this picture occasionally. This also brings me to my career choice. I would like to be an animator and an author of famous fantasy novels in England.

I don't have very much time left, so lets move on to what makes me happy. Here it is in a wrap:

Draw With Me Video

This video is about a boy and a girl from two different countries that separated themselves by an unbreakable glass. It shows that two different kinds can still become friends. You may cry at certain parts, but you will still love the video.

I wish I could tell you more, but the call of 'Dinner!' has beckoned me towards the smell of cheeseburgers. You may be saying, 'Wow. that was ten minutes of my life I'll never get back.' But I still hope that you appreciated my first post. This is the end of the beginning.
